Alright friends, so today's FAB Friday is a two-fer. Its an announcement of things to come for BITD, and also a FAB shout out to my fave DC photographer, Lauren Joseph.
After much thought, I have finally decided to relaunch and re-brand my blog. When I started to blog 2 years ago, I honestly didn't really know what I was doing. I one day decided I was going to go through with my blog idea and worked fast to launch a website to get things moving before I could talk myself out of it. Fast forward two years to now, where I have a different aesthetic and feel. I have evolved, as we all do with time and age, and I want my website to reflect this to my readers.
My newly designed site will be live at the beginning of 2017. I am so in love with its progress so far, and I hope all of you FAB readers will love the new look too. The new design will feature a more streamlined site and placement of posts to make it easier to read. Also, I'm breaking out the site into topics so you can find Life + Style, Beauty, and Travel posts much easier.
To accompany the new site, I needed some new pictures. As I have evolved as a blogger, so has my personal style and taste for photos. When I first began taking blog pics, they were in highly known areas of DC like the monuments, museums, and other landmarks. I have started to deter from that as I'm attracted to the gritty streets and graffiti. One of my DC brand partners, JC of Bailiwick Clothing, put it to me best- "Grit and glam" when describing how he thinks of me and my aesthetic. And he is right. I have always been drawn to finding beauty in obscure places.
When I started to think of photographers, I knew I had to contact Lauren Joseph. I worked with Lauren over the summer for my Modcloth shoot and she left a lasting impression on me. The photos were fantastic and her friendly, positive attitude made for great conversations and laughs during the shoot. Lauren and I met recently for the website redesign images. We braved the cold weather, walked through lots of broken glass to graffiti art and climbed rocks, and were almost hit by moving vehicles like 10 times, but I must say its the most fun I had on a shoot in quite some time. And the photos? Amazing. Seriously amazing.
My idea was to keep this under wraps until I launched the site in 2017. But, I just can't. I have already shared some of the pictures on social media, and wanted to give a sneak peek of whats to come in 2017 because its impossible for me to keep this hidden another 2 weeks. My concept for these images was all about DC. The gritty streets of DC that is unseen by the foreshadowed DC landmarks, and a spotlight on DC based designers, which encompasses my DC love story.

Thank you Lauren, for these amazing photos that were an exact match of what I had envisioned as my concept. Thank you to Zophia, Meet the Curator, Bailiwick Clothing, and Twelve26 for the DC designer apparel. Thank you to all my FAB readers for continuing to read BITD, and thank you DC, for inspiring me daily.
Website relaunch coming early 2017.
