If there is one thing I love about the DC style scene, its definitely the influx of DC based clothing brands. I enjoy supporting local brands and businesses and always wish to see the brands succeed. There's something about supporting a fellow Washingtonian's product over a mass retailer that makes you feel good and know you are supporting a DC based brand.
I recently had the pleasure of connecting with local brand, Bailiwick Clothing, that specializes in DC focused t-shirts, hoodies, and hats. Bailiwick Clothing was created by brothers JC and Jeff, with the focus of the brand dedicated to DC and the people of DC. The range of apparel within the brand is great, varying from t-shirts and tanks to sweatshirts and hats. The designs are clever and all encompass DC in some way. When JC approached me about working together, I was so excited since I had been following Bailiwick Clothing on Instagram and always enjoyed seeing their posts. You can see from Instagram, JC and Jeff are proud of their brand (as they should be!) and it reflects in their posts and products. Plus, I love how they came up with their brand name (read about it on their site here), and I am always willing to connect with new friends in the DC style scene and support each other in our endeavors.
"Inspired by the pride and positive energy generated by the District of Columbia, we aim to create clothing that reflects the nation’s capital. Our shirts capture the culture of one of the world’s most international and vibrant cities with images and messages that ring true with the people who live, work, and play in the most influential city on the planet." (from the Bailiwick Clothing website)
I had a hard time deciding which shirts were my favorite and I loved reading the inventive shirt descriptions in their online shop (which helped me in my picks!)! I narrowed my fave designs down to the Ladies 202 Emoji shirt, Ladies 202 Stars shirt, and the Ladies District Seal Tank. I also want to note the price points on the shirt are perfect and very very affordable. The shirts came within 2 days and were packaged wonderfully. As soon as I opened the package, I was so thrilled with the quality and appearance of the shirts I started planning outfits immediately. Since the shirts have a DC flair to them, I love that they can double as athletic or street wear apparel. In fact, I'm already planning on how I can pair the 202 Emoji shirt into an evening apparel look (stay tuned!).
I decided to rock the District Seal Tank this past weekend on a trip to Union Market and I even got questions about the tank! Since it was chilly in the morning, I paired my tank with ripped jeans and a embroidered bomber jacket for a fun street-style-vibe look. To top off the outfit, I wore my new glitter booties because....well it was Saturday and I really love these booties!

Overall I loved the look and feel of this tank and I can't wait to wear my other goodies from Bailiwick Clothing. My husband has even been scouring the Bailiwick website for some new DC shirts since he liked mine so much! Definitely check out Bailiwick Clothing to support a local DC brand and obtain some cool new DC apparel. Thank you JC and Jeff for this collaboration, I am so happy to be working with a brand of such stature and creativity! You guys ROCK!
