While Labor Day marked the end of summer, it is still very much summer in DC with these hot temps! I was reminded of the fact that fall is still (what feels like) a ways out when I met up with my blogger bae, Sarah, at Union Market this past Saturday for some eats, drinks, and a visit to Nomad Yard Collectiv which is only about 3 blocks away from the market.
After a drink at Red Apron and wine tasting at Cordial, which is also my favorite stall in the market (closely followed by DC Empanadas), we decided to brave the heat to Nomad Yard Collectiv and of course, take OOTD pictures along the way because that's what bloggers do (thanks for the pics, Sarah!). Those 3 blocks felt like forever in the sweltering 100 degree heat, but after lots of complaining and commiserating with each other, we made it and the heat was forgotten as soon as we stepped into the vintage oasis.
I had seen and heard of Nomad Yard Collectiv on social media and by word of mouth, so I knew it was going to be cool but it was even cooler than I expected. The large store houses gorgeous vintage and antique clothing for women and men, accessories, furniture, artwork, mirrors, and so much more. The store is also designed in such a way that everything is easy to see, making it seem like more of a museum than a store. A museum of unique vintage items is how I'd call Nomad Yard Collectiv in my own words. Desirée, owner of Nomad Yard Collectiv, welcomed us into her store after finishing with a client and we quickly struck up a conversation. Desirée is down to earth, and easily one of the most stylish people I've seen in DC. In our convo, she told us about how she gets her items through different estate sales and works with retailers around the country to find unique and one of a kind items to fill her creative shop. The vintage clothing selection is to die for. Think masses of gorgeous kimonos, glittering 80's frocks, and Jackie-O looking pieces. I seriously don't think there is a cooler store in DC than Nomad Yard Collectiv and I recommend you get there immediately to check it out for yourself. Until you can visit the store in person, check out their Instagram and website.
Outfit Details:
Since it was SO hot out on Saturday, I opted for lightweight fabrics so I wouldn't burst into flames as soon as I stepped outside. I wanted to wear something lightweight that still looked like I was ready for fall, so I picked this top from DC boutique, Shop Refine, and paired it with this tassel skirt since they both have a boho vibe.
Top- Shop Refine; Tassel Skirt- Loft; Booties- Rampage, similar here; Sunnies- Michael Kors, similar here; Purse- Rebecca Minkoff find at TJ Maxx, similar here; Choker- Forever 21; Bracelet- House of Harlow, similar here; Rings- mix of Forever 21.
Stay cool, friends.
XOXO
