Snow Glow

I hope everyone is recovering from cabin fever set in thanks to #thewinterawakens 2016! I've been going a little stir crazy myself, but have also taken advantage of this down time to beautify with face, skin, and hair masks/remedies, since this is the perfect time to do so while hibernating until the snow melts. I have compiled a list of masks you can make at home (except for one, which is from Sephora), and leave on for an extended period of time whether teleworking at home in your pajamas, or catching up on Netflix, or doing chores! Thanks to these masks below, the snow isn't the only thing that will be glistening!

For the Face:

GLAMGLOW

This is the one store-bought mask, but its too good not to share. This mask combo was recommended to me by the Beauty Experts at the Pentagon City Sephora. I have extremely dry skin in the winter and was looking for some extra hydration and exfoliating masks. After speaking with one of the Beauty Experts, she recommended GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Tinglexfoliate Treatment (which I already use and its fabulous), followed by GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment. The YOUTHMUD mask cleans and exfoliates your skin and leaves it feeling refreshed, while the THIRSTYMUD packs your skin full of hydration- and trust me, the duo combo is amazing! Escape your cabin fever by heading to Sephora and stock up on these products now, before the next snow storm!

Directions: Apply the YOUTHMUD treatment for 20 minutes to clean skin. Rinse with water. Apply generous amount of THIRSTYMUD to face and leave on for a few hours/overnight for an extra oomph of hydration, or rinse off after 20 minutes if you're in a rush.

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Mask

Honey and Oatmeal Mask

This mask is great for soothing skin and acne/problem areas. Its a little more complex, but still fairly easy to make. You need 3 tbsp ground oats (the first time I tried this without grinding the oats and it was a disaster with oats falling off my face all over the floor! Definitely grind the oats in a food processor or blender until they are like a powder), 1 tbsp hot water and 1 tbsp honey. Mix the ground oats with hot water until well combined. Let the combination sit a few moments and then add the honey and mix well. Apply to face for 20 minutes and remove with warm water and washcloth.

For the Hair:

Coconut Oil Mask

Coconut Oil acts as a moisturizer to dry strands! Melt 1/4 cup of coconut oil to liquid state and apply to wet hair. Cover hair with a shower cap and leave in for up to an hour, then rinse out.

Avocado and Egg Yolk Mask

This mask is good for added strength and shine to hair. Simply mix 1/2 an avocado and 2 egg yolks in a bowl until stirred well. Apply to hair and leave on 20 minutes, then rinse out!

For the Skin:

Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub

This DIY scrub is oh so easy to make and is great to exfoliate your skin! You'll need a glass jar with lid, 1 cup Turbinado sugar, 2 tbsp coconut oil (in liquid state), and 1 lime. Mix Turbinado sugar and coconut oil in bowl. Squeeze the lime into the sugar and oil blend and mix thoroughly. Pour mixture in glass jar and use in shower to exfoliate body, hands and feet!

Vaseline Socks

This one is so simple and a favorite of mine! Since our feet don't get as much attention in the winter, they tend to be dryer and crack easier. All you need for this one is a jar of Vaseline and a pair of socks. Apply a generous amount of Vaseline to your feet- specifically your heels and any dry spots- and put on your socks before going to bed or lounging around for the day. The socks will help keep the moisture in, giving you soft feet!
