Casual Chic at City Center DC
Today I decided to take Saturday Street Syle to the new City Center DC- a vibrant new neighborhood in the heart of DC featuring shops, restaurants, apartments and condos, and office buildings. Located near Metro Center and Chinatown, City Center DC is still brand new. Only a few shops and restaurants have opened, but many more are to follow. The overall atmosphere is fresh, luxurious, and modern.
The stores are mostly upscale retailers (Kate Spade, Longchamp, Burberry, and opening soon-Hermes, Louis Vuitton, David Yurman, and more), which provides some amazing window shopping and is the perfect place to purchase an occasional splurge. While only a few restaurants have opened, there will be a great range of restaurant options and features some NYC-based hotspots like DBGB Kitchen and Bar, momofuku, and Fig and Olive; as well as Del Friscos, and some dessert shops.
The overall design is very chic with exposed glass air walkways, stylish lighting, a fountain display that flows under the sidewalk, and an intriguing art installation featuring flowing nature scenes. I have a feeling this is going to be the next see-and-be-seen place in DC.
DBGB Brunch Review:
DBGB Kitchen and Bar
931 H Street NW Washington, DC 20001
After browsing around the center, I had brunch at the NYC-to-DC hotspot, DBGB Kitchen and Bar. The decor is very cool and features plates painted by different artists as the artwork. The windows are tall and open offering views of the City Center fountain display or H Street. The bar is a modern with a back wall mirror with comfy looking oversized bar stools. I ordered a glass of their featured Rose wine and the Brioche French Toast with spiced apple compote. It was fabulous. Seriously the best french toast I've had in awhile. My dad ordered the Omelette with fine herbs and home fries and bacon, and that too was delicious. If you're looking for a trendy new brunch spot, I highly recommend checking out DBGB.
