Diane von Furstenberg is one of my favorite designers. She is creative, graceful, and empowering. Known for the wrap dress and her lips logo, her clothes, shoes, and accessories are iconic and her use of color and prints is breathtaking. I actually met (yes, MET) Diane von Furstenberg at her studio and store in NYC's Meatpacking District about 5 years ago. I happened to be on the sidewalk taking a picture of the studio when a woman walked by me and said "Diane is in the store." I bolted and entered the store literally running into DVF herself. I froze. The legend, DVF, who I have admired for years was standing right in front of me looking fabulous. I managed to finally form words and said, "OMG you're Diane von Furstenberg. I love you." Yes, I told DVF I loved her. She smiled and hugged me and agreed to take a picture with me. To this day, that memory of how personable and nice she was makes me a loyal DVF customer. Also the fact that she is not only a great designer, but a role model and womans advocate makes her that much more wonderful.
I urge you all to watch House of DVF, which airs tonight on E! at 10pm EST. The show is about the search for the next DVF Brand Ambassador and said to be completely unscripted, honest, and empowering to women. Happy Viewing!
